WELCOME TO MONTE CARLO

The Monte Carlo Ball transforms a night of meeting people into a theatrical roulette-inspired social dance. The hosts become larger-than-life croupiers. Guests become the numbered players. The wheel creates surprise introductions—and the music gives two strangers a chance to connect.

This is not a gambling event. The roulette wheel is a matchmaking prop, not a wager. No money, prizes or romantic outcomes are determined by a bet.

EVERYBODY GETS A NUMBER

CHECK IN. GET YOUR CASINO IDENTITY.

At the door, a host checks you in and assigns a playful roulette identity—Red 17, Black 8, or another available number and color. It's the name the croupiers call during the show. If you would rather use your own name, that's fine too.

While the room fills, enjoy the reception, get a drink if you'd like and start mingling. The roulette identities are part of the theater; nobody is assigned a romantic partner at the door.

THE GRAND INTRODUCTIONS

When the Ball begins, the hosts introduce willing guests to the room one by one. Share your preferred name or casino identity, where you're from and what you do—whatever that means to you. The hosts bring the wit. You decide what you're comfortable sharing. This gives the room a first impression before a single spin.

THE ROULETTE CEREMONY

FIRST SPIN. FIRST PLAYER.

The croupier-host spins the wheel and calls the corresponding guest identity. Red 17! Step forward—you're first on the floor.

SECOND SPIN. YOUR DANCE PARTNER.

Another spin selects a second eligible guest. Black 8! The room gets its next introduction. The pair is invited to the dance floor, where they can sway together or simply talk.

HALF THE ROOM. THREE SONGS.

The hosts continue until approximately half the eligible guests are paired for that round. Then the music begins: three slow songs together, enough time for the first awkward hello to turn into a real conversation. Nobody has to dance or touch. A seated or standing chat is equally welcome.

THE OTHER HALF KEEPS THE PARTY GOING.

Not called this round? The bar, conversation and spectacle are still yours. Meet someone independently, watch the hosts work the wheel and enjoy the room. Another ceremony follows with freshly selected pairs.

THE HOUSE RULES OF CHANCE

The wheel appears to choose freely, but the production team keeps the experience fair and comfortable. Only participating guests are entered into each round; pairing eligibility and expressed preferences are respected; and guests still waiting for their first invitation are prioritized before repeat dance opportunities.

The producer may use a configurable roulette wheel or assisted draw to fit the number of registered guests, remove unavailable identities and avoid repeat pairings. A conventional numbered casino wheel cannot automatically accommodate every guest count or pairing constraint.

THE ZERO POCKET

The green zero can become a host's wild-card moment—a bonus joke, surprise introduction or fresh draw. It never forces a guest into a pairing, overrides consent or changes the private matching rules.

DRESS FOR THE TABLES

Monte Carlo means a little glamour: sharp jackets, black-and-red accents, cocktail attire, vintage casino style or whatever makes you feel magnetic. The actual dress requirements, if any, appear in the event listing. Dressing up is an invitation, not a test of belonging.

THE MATCH IS YOURS TO MAKE

A roulette pairing is only an introduction. It does not announce mutual attraction. After the hosted rounds, guests may privately indicate whom they'd like to reconnect with; contact information is shared only in accordance with the event's mutual-interest and consent process. No public rankings. No forced reveals.

ONE THEME. MANY POSSIBLE ROOMS.

Monte Carlo is a reusable Matchmaking Ball theme—not one permanently scheduled event. HKNY can produce it for gay men's, sapphic, bisexual/pansexual, trans-centered, asexual-spectrum or mixed LGBTQ+ audiences, with appropriate matchmaking preferences and separately defined age ranges. Each actual event announces whom it's intended for before registration.
